With an increasing list of global English speakers-in-training who are in different locations (Chicago, Chicagoland (suburbs), Brazil, China, Italy, for example), I decided to pilot a couple of speech training (a.k.a. accent modification/reduction) programs via webcam this past spring.  I discovered what works, what doesn’t—from tech to information delivery to speech practice. Some of the initial awkwardness propelled me into getting it figured out. Getting comfortable with it. Thank you, Hansi, Lexie, Andrea, PangLu, and Massimo.

I tell my clients, just jump into conversations and work on keeping them going. Conversations take practice. I had to tell myself the same thing. Just jump in with the tech. The content has your back!

Time to shake it up a bit

In-person speech-training programs & coaching will always be on the list of what I offer; this is what I’ve been doing for the past 15 years. (Speaking of, learn what’s coming up.) But it’s also becoming lights, camera, action for a few upcoming programs via videoconference and webinars. Not to mention, testing 1, 2, 3 with a variety of online tools for hosting online discussion groups. And click, click, click through the pages of a digital daily workbook in progress. An upgraded online speech training resource which provides a daily checklist/keeping track system. Steady progress requires daily, or near-daily, practice, and this workbook is intended to help my speakers-in-training with just that. Organized, inspired, and motivated.

I’d love to hear from you

Someone from one of the spring pilot programs has inquired about a future online Interview for Success course. I’ve added this to the list (or Venn Diagram) as I’m shaking it all up. A few other clients have asked about a presentation delivery-workshop series, online. Check. Yes, shake shake.

Any other great ideas out there? I’d love to hear from you. You can comment in the box below or send me an email at sgallant@ccg-training.com.
